«Drops of Breath»
The World´s First Underwater Performance
25, 26, 27 September 2015
Cape Sounio, Attica - Greece
Grecotel Cape Sounio
For the 1rst time worldwide, choreographers Sophie Bulbulyan (DK-BEL / France) and Apostolia Papadamaki (Quasi Stellar / Greece) in collaboration with Lia Haraki (Pelma / Cyprus) present a unique underwater dance-visual performance with an underwater audience.
The Drops of Breath philosophy
“Drops of Breath” invites us to a universe where every human has equal opportunities. Water is our home, with our mother’s protective and harmonic watery womb being the very first place we’ve all experienced. A team of underwater dancers with an inclusive attitude towards otherness engage us to an aquatic world, where buoyancy and absolute freedom from gravity embraces human differences.
The performance
In an underwater “theatre”, fourteen performers (among them three disabled & three children) from France, Greece and Cyprus perform the underwater choreography in Cape Sounion beach, where the temple of Poseidon stands overlooking one of the most beautiful coasts of the Mediterranean -- the absolute inspirational background for the audience.
The audience
An underwater “stage” is formed where certified divers/audience, fully equipped, will be able to sit on custom-made benches on the seabed and attend the performance. Viewers can also watch while snorkeling over the undersea stage and for those who prefer to remain dry, a screen on the beach will be set where 3 underwater cameras will broadcast live during the performance.
For the very first time, three types of audience in a performance:
