The series Parabases - of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center readers theater - has resumed at the SNFCC Lighthouse since February 2022.
Three female directors negotiate three milestone theatrical pieces that center around motherhood/mothers, and the emotional development of humans, as the latter is inextricably linked with early life experiences.
On Sunday, March 20, 2022, the baton is passed to Maria Magkanari, who attempts a reading of one of the most compelling pieces of contemporary theater, August Strindberg's The Father.
The clash between Bertha's mother and father, sparked by their disagreement regarding their daughter's upbringing and education, is crushing.
Highlighting the interesting representation of the war of the sexes, which plays a pivotal role in all plays by Strindberg, Angelos Terzakis notes: "Women commanded a bizarre and contradictory appeal in Strindberg's life. In the struggle between man and woman, he saw an elemental confrontation that ia as all-encompassing as a natural law."
