Dear Friends,

We are Ioulia & Barbara and together we created a common space where similar and different elements can coexist, each with its own purpose, in a choreographic composition that we call "ΑΜFI" (yes, you got it right, from preposition "amphi-, which in greek means between two places).

The space of AMFI is not necessarily characterized by security, predictability or continuity. Here, we call each other with a word, squeal, whisper, and our voices co-exist until they become a chorus, a parody, rarely a tragedy. Through our own pathway, we will guide you through our story, in which you might see yours too . CAUTION! Leaving the show, there is a possibility that you will be "stuck" with a certain phrase, known and familiar to everyone.

During this performance, we will create visible spaces, where "on-stage" and "off-stage" acquire the same importance. Stages that as performers we seek to exist with sincerity, calmness, lightness and humor, following our artistic instincts and looking for an approach to relationships beyond the obvious.

The performance is discovering some possible convergences but also the apparent divergences between classical ballet and dance in pop culture. The choreography is constructed on rhythmic patterns and melodies from 20 pop songs, which are either silenced on stage or recalled deconstructed.

Hard pop is a piece for six roles, five dancers and one "non-dancer". It has a relatively short duration and sporadic musical accompaniment, while the scene is dominated by the element of measured movement, form and its organization in space.

It is a reconstructed "unison", a coordinated, continuous group choreography that unfolds in different ways for each dancer and the choreographer approaches unison more as a state of mind than as an absolute visual effect.

The whole project focuses on the concept of extroversion, in which he sees two aspects, the first refers to classical dance, and specifically to the en dehors (fr., eng. outwards) as a basic technical instruction that characterizes ballet, and the second in extroversion as a tool of aggressive marketing (used within the pop culture industry) and the ways in which it is translated into the kinetic "language" of the respective choreographers and dancers.

Audience attendance begins 40 minutes before the scheduled performance time. It is completed when the positions are filled and after the actions have started. After the start, spectators will not be allowed to enter the seating area.
