On the occasion of the celebrations for the 5-year anniversary of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, Gandini Juggling - following the enormous success of Smashed (SNH, March 2019) - are returning to the Stavros Niarchos Hall for two fascinating performances on Monday and Tuesday, February 21 and 22.
In 4x4: Ephemeral Architectures, four jugglers and four ballet dancers share a stage and create a hybrid show that combines circus with contemporary dance, exploring the boundaries of space and tracing the paths of an imaginary architecture. Juggling virtuosity, dancing precision and an immersive soundtrack blend masterfully in this multifaceted performance-discourse between two exciting artforms, merged on stage with the science of mathematics and the beauty of architectural patterns.
Following their international hit Smashed, co-creators Gandini and Ylä-Hokkala revisit their love of mathematics and pure patterns, in search of a common ground, where artforms converse through elaborate juggling acts, dance moves and an original musical composition, Nimrod Borenstein's "Suspended Opus 69."
The Gandini Juggling company was created in 1992 by world-renowned juggler Sean Gandini and gymnastics champion Kati Ylä-Hokkala. The company has staged more than 5,000 performances in 50 countries.
