After having received excellent critics from the international press and having been distinguished at numerous world music charts, µLamenta, from Epirus traditions to world jazz” of Xanthoula Dakovanou is going to be presented live for the first time in Athens the 27th of December 2022, at Michael Cacoyiannis Foundation. The album was released by the french label Quart de Lune and is presented under the auspisces of the greek Ministry of Culture.
From Epirus to Avignon, Paris, Bruxelles and back, this album is inspired by musical traditions of Epirus, in particular lamentations, with influences of post-rock and world jazz. It is a musical journey which explores the ways that the human soul deals with the pain of loss, ending up as an extatic feast on stage.
The music was choregraphed by belgian choreographers Koen Augustijnen and Rosalba Torres Guerrero (Siamese Cie) and the contemporary dance piece "Lamenta" has received excellent critics from the international press.
In this concert the music of the album is presented live with eleven artists on stage. Next to Xanthoula Dakovanou (voice), a special guest is Nikos Filippidis (clarinet) as well as the musicians Kleon Antoniou (electric guitar), Dimitris Brendas (clarinet, kaval), Kostas Filippidis (voice), Lefkothea Filippidi (voice), Stefanos Filos (violin), Panagiotis Katsikiotis (drums), Alexandros Rizopoulos (percussion) and Dimitris Tsekouras (bass). We present, as well, for the first time an authentic choreography of Taxiarchis Vasilakos on the album’s track µLeventis’. In the album "Lamenta" participates also the famous french jazzman Magic Malik (flute, voice).
The belgian choreographer Koen Augustijnen will be present in Athens for the live concert of the album.
