The Meleagris Art Festival has the pleasure to present a piano recital of the Cypriot, internationally renowned soloist, Manolis Neophytou - graduate of the Specialized Central Music School and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, as well as prize winner of international piano competitions. Manolis Neophytou, known for his lyricism, will perform works by Mikis Theodorakis, as well as music from the films A Touch of Spice and An Eternity and a Day by Evanthia Reboutsika and Eleni Karaindrou, in his own arrangements for solo piano. He will also perform famous works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Dmitrii Shostakovich, Ernesto Lecuona, Isaac Albeniz and Astor Piazzolla.

The Meleagris Farm will be open an hour prior to the concert, welcoming the public to its premises.

After the concert, the guests will have the opportunity of tasting specialties and fine wines from the local winery EVINOS.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Manolis Neophytou performed his first solo recital at the age of eleven, just before entering the Moscow's Central Special State Music School of the former Soviet Union, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Rudolf Kehrer.

He continued his studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire (1996-2002), with a scholarship from Nicolas Economou Foundation. He also studied at the Ecole Normale of Paris (2002-2003), with a scholarship from the Albert Roussel Foundation. In 2004, he obtained the Masters in Piano Performance from the University of London with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece.

He has represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Classical Contests in Brussels (1992), Warsaw (1994) and Lisbon (1996), after winning the Cyprus National Competitions. He received several prizes in international piano competitions: the 4^th Prize at Senigallia International Piano Competition (Italy, 1994), the 1^st Prize at the Inter-Mediterranean Music Festival (Palermo, Italy, 1995), and the 2^nd Prize at the Thimis Piano Competition (Megaron Mousikis, Thessaloniki, Greece, 2002).

His has given many solo recitals and concerts in Germany, U.S.A.,Greece, Switzerland, Russia, Poland, Italy, Hungary, France, Ireland, U.K., Korea, South Africa and Cyprus.

He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, such as the State Orchestra of Cyprus, the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, the Symphonic State Orchestra of Rostov (Russia) and others. He has given master classes in Cyprus, at the University of South Africa (UNISA), as well as the University of Maine (USA).

His first CD, titled Homage to Greek Music, has received a very positive review from Mikis Theodorakis.

Nowadays, he teaches piano at the Arte Academy of Music, the European University of Cyprus and at the State Music School of Limassol.

His recent performances include concerts in the USA (University of Maine), London and Zurich.
