Now that the winter season is starting, Parklife concert series at Stavros Niarchos ParkΆs Great Lawn gives its place to a new music event series, Cosmos, through which Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) invites us to explore different musical universes in the Greek National OperaΆs Stavros Niarchos Hall.

For the first concert in this new series, on Monday 27November at 21.00 SNFCC hosts Thanos Mikroutsikos in the live concert When Brecht met Hamlet on the Moon in the Rain, featuring Christos Thivaios and Rita Antonopoulou.

Showcasing poets and lyricists who inspired him to compose unique soundscapes, Thanos Mikroutsikos stages a concert that encapsulates his music world.

In the first part, political songs and love songs alternate with songs of solitude. Bertolt BrechtΆs theater of distancing is interspersed with Nazim HikmetΆs free verse, Manolis AnagnostakisΆs existential quests, Kostas Tripolitis and Odysseus IoannouΆs lyrics, when Hamlet on the Moon meets Hamlet in the Rain.

In the second part of the concert, Nikos Kavvadias, the poet of seafarers and ports, and Thanos MikroutsikosΆs music evoke a unique sea cosmos valid across geographical latitudes and longitudes.

The concert concludes with three of MikroutsikosΆs classic songs on poetry by Alkis Alkaiou: Erotiko, Panta Gelastoi, and Rosa.
